My Journey into the Daylight Age

Follow my journey to harmonize my life to Mother Nature and follow the divine within all of us.

I am starting a new category for my blog. Instead of updating past blogs with new faith experiences I will place all new faith experiences into a group . . . year by year.

10/18/25. Since the faith experiences are coming almost every day . . . I will start a new blog every month.

05/27/25. Guidance from Rev Nagase about bringing consistency to reading the teachings.

Last month, I shared with Rev Nagase my concern about not being consistent in my goal of reading the Teachings daily. I remember clearly one of his ideas for reaching my goal. Turn the reading of the Teachings into a conversation with God. Today I did that. I asked God, “what do I need to know today?” His answer was clear and I could then act upon this knowledge. Application has always been a problem and now with this conversation, it has become a natural result of reading the Teachings. Last week, while teaching a class of 5th Graders I did the same thing. The answer surprised me. I asked God, “what should I share with this class?” The answer was “Aura” We had fun with it. I showed them how to feel it between their hands and then I helped them see my aura. It was a lot of fun. About half the class was able to see my aura so they were happy and I was also very happy. I knew they were able to see it because they knew what color my aura was for that day. You are probably wondering how I knew what color my aura was for that particular day. Did I see it in the mirror? No. I saw it between my hands when I taught the class how to feel the aura between their hands. We kept the lesson light and required only one thing. They all had to say at the end . . . “That was interesting.”

05/30/25. Normal conversation with spiritual friends.

Today was a normal day at work. My third grade students were amazing. I am always surprised at what transpires in class. My conversation with God started with a question, “what do I need from You, today, to accomplish my mission?” The answer surprised me. Good and evil. The reason I chose not to share this Teaching with them is because I have a preconceived notion about good and evil which many people share and the topic could be a challenge. I did talk to them about the spiritual world and I believe the Teaching was to help me connect the dots of a conversation I would have with a friend later on today.

This friend mentioned an interesting way of handling past trauma. She explained it like digging down deep for the truth. The truth does not lie in the tentacles extending out of the core truth. Those tentacles are just the result of the underlying truth. I know this is not making much sense but when she said it, I remembered a Teaching in Foundation of Paradise where Meishu-sama wrote about “reason transcending reason”. I have written this before but it occurred to me that we are not able to evaluate what is happening to us thru misfortunes such as disease or poverty because our logical minds “reason” has based our evaluation of what we are experiencing and telling us a pseudo truth based on our understanding of the causes of our situation. All we need is solid proof of the contrary and our minds can use reason to transcend reason.

Let me give you an hypothetical situation to explain this theory:

A patient is living with an illness for a long time. The doctors have repeatedly stated that the illness is not curable. The doctors tell the patient that you will have to live with this condition the rest of your life. The patient is not happy. The patient is looking for a cure or a way of putting the condition into remission. The patient is trying everything; all kinds of possible solutions. Prayer and spiritual considerations are on the top of the list. The patient is also trying nutrition, exercise and counseling. As you can see the length of time the patient has been dealing with the condition is strengthening the cage being built by her conscious mind and her ability to reason. Every attempt and failure is more evidence that the doctors were correct. This condition is incurable.

Now we are at the correct stage to cure the incurable. We need evidence to support a new theory. If we are to use our logical minds to transcend the previous truth which stated that this condition is incurable, then we need that miracle that Meishu-sama refers to. We put together our evidence to support a new theory. For example, 7 days of continuous Johrei when the patient is not in a flareup is all that is necessary along with a healthy dose of gratitude. Btw, I chose seven days because I have never heard of a solution such as this. Btw, the end result of this situation is a win-win scenario. The above paragraph touched on underlying truths. Well, if the underlying truth is a spiritual truth then the tentacles of pain and suffering is not what is being addressed directly. The underlying truth is being addressed and the outcome of a physical healing is up to God. We don’t have the wisdom to understand all of this but a healthy dose of Johrei will bring us a little “Peace of Mind” because our spiritual awareness will become slightly elevated and with a higher position of our Yukon, a more happy and fortunate life will naturally manifest itself.

06/25/25 Connections to the nth degree. I believe this is the one. Well, maybe the most important so far . . . ^_^

Vishin Lakhiani, founder of Mindvalley, was definitely an instrument of God when he shared a little bit of advice for achieving the alpha state of mind (in the zone) on request. In a couple of minutes time, he explained that the brain is in the alpha state when we wake up in the morning. If you have to use the bathroom go ahead and do so but return to bed and lie there and count backwards from 100 to 1. I don’t remember how long he suggested doing this but I did it for one week. I believe that most Johrei practitioners could do it very quickly because we obtain the alpha brain state every time we channel the Light. After one week, I than transitioned to counting backwards from 50 to 1. I did that for another week and now all I do is count down from 10 to 1 in order to enter this alpha state any time during the day. Before I pray. Before I run for exercise. Before I swing at a golf ball. ^_^

Confirmation of reaching this state can be done very easily.

  1. You will not notice the normal passage of time. (time flies)
  2. Many of the activities that deserve your total attention will be accomplished in a smooth orderly manner.
  3. Prayers are better because the heart and mind are better aligned.
  4. “Why” questions for positive affirmations will be achievable during this alpha state. For example, Why am I so organized? Why am I so relaxed? Why do I have a body of a good distance runner? Why do I have energy to help people? Why am I thinking so clearly? Why do I feel centered and prepared to take on the projects of life? Why am I a better Dad, now, than 40 years ago? Why am I better husband than the first time around? Answer: to better serve God.

I am definitely having fun with this one. I am slowly reducing my dependence on coffee. Right before I enjoy a cup of coffee, I ask a question while in the zone. Why do I have so much energy? (I have done this several times) As soon as I ask the question, I feel a surge of energy. I then, proceed in enjoying that cup of coffee. You are probably asking yourself, why do I do this? I want to enjoy the cup for its flavor and not for a pick up. ^_^

More exciting news to come . . .

10/11/25 – Wow! I cannot believe nearly 4 months have slipped by. A lot of things have transpired and I really don’t know where to start. I think I will start with the most important . . . Johrei. I want to go into more detail in Dr. Joe Dispenza’s mini chapter on Weird Science: Can We Affect the Past? In his book, “Breaking the Habit of Being Yourself” he goes into detail about an experiment an Israeli doctor named, Leonard Leibovici conducted back in July 2000. It was a double blind, randomized controlled trial involving 3,393 hospital patients. These patients all suffered sepsis while at this hospital. He divided the records into a controlled group and one intercession group He set out to prove whether prayer had an effect on their condition. People prayed for the intercession group and nothing was done for the other group. Analysis of the two groups were in three categories: how long fever lasted, length of hospital stay and how many died as a result of the infection. The prayed for group benefited in earlier decrease of fever and shorter time in the hospital. There were no statistically significant difference in deaths . . . although the prayed for group was better. I will quote the final comments Dr. Dispenza wrote:

“That’s a powerful demonstration of the benefits of prayer and how we can send an intention out into the quantum field through our thoughts and feelings. However, there’s one additional element to this story that you should know about. Did it strike you as slightly odd that in July 2000, a hospital would have more than 3,0000 cases of infection at once? Was it a very poorly sterilized place or was some kind of contagion running rampant?

Actually, those who were praying weren’t praying for patients who were infected in 2000. Instead, unbeknownst to them, they were praying for lists of people who had been in the hospital from 1990 – 1996 –four to ten years prior to the experiment! The prayed-for patients actually got better during the 1990s from the experiment conducted years later. Let me say this another way: the patients who were prayed for in 2000 all showed measurable changes in health, but those changes took effect years before.

A statistical analysis of this experiment proved that these effects were far beyond coincidence. This demonstrates that our intentions, our thoughts and feelings, and our prayers not only affect our present or future, but they can actually affect our past as well.

Now, this leads to the question: if you were to pray (or focus on an intention) for a better life for yourself, could it affect your past, present, and future?

The quantum law says that all potentials exist simultaneously. Our thinking and our feelings affect all aspects of life, beyond both space and time.”

Now, when I read what Dr. Dispenza wrote, another question comes to mind. What if we pray with intention for the welfare of not only people who we are praying for but for that person’s family and all their ancestors. Or better yet . . . pray for all of humanity and all of creation. There are a lot of chaos and wrong acts being committed in the world today. I think some prayers from all those who believe in prayer could make a huge difference in the final outcome of humanity.

more to come . . . I will attempt to blog every day. See you tomorrow.

10/12/25 – As I am reading Dr. Dispenza’s book again I realize that the reason I liked it so much was because his words confirmed what Meishu-sama wrote in his teachings many years ago. Meishu-sama mentioned that a new science will be developed that will incorporate the spiritual science with the material science. Well, Dr. Dispenza dipped his toes into the new science and he is bringing it to life. I will point as many people to his books because he is elevating people’s spiritual consciousness in almost the same way as Meishu-sama.

I am going to include in this blog and a few weeks of future blogs to the comparison’s of what Dr. Dispenza wrote and the Teachings of Meishu-sama. I pray this helps you help other people who needs God’s help. I am heading to my Center for Sunday Service. Be right back.

I hope more members will purchase this book. Dr. Dispenza confirms what Meishu-sama wrote in his Teachings. Spiritual science is playing catch up and Dr. Dispenza wrote an interesting paragraph in the Introduction. He wrote:

“As a practicing chiropractor who runs a busy integrated-health clinic and as an educator in the fields of neuroscience, brain function biology, and brain chemistry, I have been privileged to be at the forefront of some of this research-not just by studying the fields mentioned above, but also by observing the effects of this new science, once applied by common people like you and me. That’s the moment when the possibilities of this new science become reality.”

Later in the introduction he wrote:

“If you take intellectual information that you learn as a philosophy, and then initiate that knowledge into your life by applying it enough times until you master it, you will ultimately move from being a philosopher to an initiate to a master. Stay tuned . . there is sound scientific evidence that this is possible.”

10/14/25 – A thought came to me as I was doing Hoshi (service) at the Center today. One of my favorite Teaching of Meishu-sama is entitled, in English, “Gratitude”. In Japanese,”Ningenwa sonen shidai”. Which means, (We are what we feel) Sonen is a complicated Japanese word. I saw it written once, as thought plus feelings plus will.

This sounds like a heart, unified with the brain with definite intention. Sound familiar?

Oh by the way today’s date is 10/18/25. I am about to run an experiment about Sonen here at the Center. Wish me luck. ^_^

Spiritual answer

To a physical problem.

Seems possible when

All steps are applied to all

Situations like clockwork.

A thought came to me as I was about to start my Hoshi day at home. Rev. Nagase shared a story about Rev. Watanabe which made me realize the power of the spiritual world. I know it is difficult to make the connection some times but we should take a leap of faith. Perhaps one session of Johrei may be good enough for a headache and perhaps good enough for a marvelous life changing miracle. But since we cannot discern what the number is, perhaps we should increase the number of sessions of Johrei to find that number. It could be 10 Johrei per day for 2 weeks. It could be 30 Johrei sessions per day for a month. We do not know. And then it happened. As I was planning the day out, while exchanging Johrei with my wife, it occurred to me that the same thing can be applied to Soul Polishing and Mitamamigaki. As the number of people who help with Mitamamigaki increases we can start applying this principle to our Center. Let’s say the progress of our Center’s mission has been in 1st gear for awhile. What if we had 25 people helping and only 7 have a position at the altar. We could have the other 18 people continue cleaning around the Center to help polish the soul of the Center. Yes, they would also polish their souls but the Center needs a boost.

I used this same reasoning for the cleaning of our home. Yes, I could clean all the floors like I always do on Friday morning but what if I spent the day, (Thursday) cleaning things that normally are not cleaned every week. Today I concentrated on the windows, screens and screen doors. Yes, everything looks clean. And I also did some soul polishing but I believe another reason for doing this is the spiritual health of our home. It needs a little love and attention; perhaps a new water heater, but it also, needs the high vibration from us. That has to be the difference between a house and a home.

Update: 6/25/24

Today was another Hoshi day at home. I was praying, wouldn’t it be nice if I had another part of my home that I could put some love and affection into . . . I was washing the dishes at the time and it occurred to me. Why not put some elbow grease into the marble in the kitchen. Polishing marble while polishing my soul. What a concept. Well, it did not go as well as I planned. When I polished a little silver spoon yesterday the feeling was amazing. When I polished the marble I did not feel anything. Oh well, at least the marble and the sink looks really nice. ^_^

HUMANITY’S MISSION (19)
The great mission of creating a Paradise here on Earth
Was assigned to humanity by God alone. (Nidai-sama)
God works through us,
Using each human being as an instrument
In the Divine Plan of salvation for humanity.
Each of us is born with a physical body,
And a soul bestowed by God –
A part of God’s own Being. (Nidai-sama)

A person is born on the physical plane because he or she
has a definite, individual mission assigned by God for the
fulfillment of God’s Plan.
What is God’s Plan? From the beginning of Creation,
God has planned the establishment of a Paradise on Earth.
Words cannot express the grandeur and beauty of God’s
Plan.
God has endowed each human being with special talents
and capabilities so that his or her individual mission can be
performed successfully. God has caused each one to be
born and reborn countless times, to live again and again in
the physical world in order to move forward toward the
ultimate goal of perfection.
All things and all events are part of the movement
toward this goal. The present day is what I call the turning
point from the Age of Darkness to the Daylight Age.
The entire world is on the verge of taking decisive steps
into the new era. Humanity must now throw off the cloak of
barbarism so it may reach the heights of a truly enlightened
civilization. For the first time on Earth, chaos, conflict,
disease and poverty will be eliminated. God has sent us
Johrei for the purpose of furthering God’s great Plan in this
direction. Johrei will play a crucial role in achieving God’s
Plan.

I have read this teaching numerous times. It appears straight forward but I realize that I was not understanding the significance of the second paragraph. Meishu-sama wrote . . . Malevolent spoken words – angry, abusive, condemning, deceitful – form clouds and dim the spiritual realm of speech, which is next in power to the spiritual realm of thought. The Spiritual world is the world of power. Spiritual preceding the physical is a Universal Law and we should pay close attention to our thoughts. That being said, I am going to be more careful of the input into my computer sitting on my shoulders. Many thoughts are manifested thru outside input and some also are manifested from the spiritual world. Either way we have a choice of what thoughts are repeated over and over. This repetition gives it power and eventually it is manifested into words and perhaps eventually into action. More to follow

The Pleasant Person

A pleasant person

Is one who, with no pretense,

Is kind and respectful

To all they meet.  Their heart is

Paradise like and loving.

Golf is a game supposedly played by gentle people.  It is a social game and you do have time to socialize.  I believe it was during the movie Titanic where I believe I heard a very good definition of a gentle person.  It went something like this, A gentle person tries to make everyone around them comfortable.  That is not always the case because the game brings out the devil in some people.  ^_^   So with that in mind . . . please read Meishu-sama’s teaching on this subject.

A PLEASANT PERSON (54)

Perhaps there is no word that sounds more agreeable than “pleasant.”  Think about it.  To get along in the world, being pleasant toward others is more important than we may realize, for, it has a very great influence on the society in which we live, to say nothing of personal fortune.

For example, when a person comes in contact with another individual who has a pleasing personality, that person begins to feel pleasant, and this can happen over and over until a very amiable society can be brought about.  The result can be that all the deplorable problems, especially those involving conflict and crime, steadily decrease.  Naturally, this means that a spiritual paradise can then be realized.  And, to achieve this we don’t have to spend a penny; no effort is required; we can begin to do it right now.  What could be better?

This may sound very easy, but it clearly is not, as I think everybody realizes.  I say this because the mere external appearance of being pleasant is not enough to achieve it; it must be something that emanates from sincere love within.  So, everything depends on the spiritual and mental attitude of the individual.  In other words, the spirit of love for others is of primary importance.

Let me write a little about myself in this regard.  It may sound rather odd for me to say it, but, since my youth I have seldom been disliked or resented by others; most people have been attracted to me wherever I have gone.

One reason for this especially strikes me.  I am always careful to try to do first only what satisfies others, what makes them happy, taking care of my own interests or pleasures later.  I don’t do this to uphold some moral standard or spiritual viewpoint; it all happens quite naturally.  Perhaps it is simply because it is in my nature to act in this way.  I really enjoy being kind to others and trying to make them happy.  People have often told me how lucky I was to have such a disposition.

Living next to a golf course is dangerous to one’s health and property.  My first drive of the round just the other day landed on someone’s roof.  Hitting a golf ball is difficult and the ball itself is a painful projectile if it hits anyone.  That being said, there are many situations where conflict could erupt.  No wonder many people consider this particular game as the best game ever developed by man.  It is challenging and it reflects so many situations found in a normal day to day interactions with other human beings.  Have I been close to getting into a war out on the golf course.  The answer is Yes.  Especially at the beginning where I had no idea where my golf ball was going.  ^_^  With years of spiritual training and many hours of Johrei, I can safely say that I will not be the instigator of a conflict on the golf course.  I believe that it will take a lot to light the fires of anger inside of me.   Is it possible . . . yes . . . but I believe it will be unlikely.  A person who wants to fight running into a pleasant person . . . may just diffuse the situation.

This is an add on . . .  yesterday I was not a pleasant person.  I have discovered a huge weakness.  When I go 3 hours pass meal time with no snacks . . . I have a short temper until I have food in me.  I became a weak, grouchy bear.  ^_^

The Joy of Doing Good Deeds

Happiness is found

In the Joy of doing good

Deeds.  What a concept.

With the majority of

People feeling this . . . hot dog!

The following teaching written by Meishu-sama is priceless.  Please read it as many times as you would like because it contains the secret to living a happy life.

THE JOY OF DOING GOOD DEEDS (55)

While paying close attention to the world around me, I have found that the people who pursue pleasures of a negative nature unfortunately far outnumber those who pursue pleasures of a positive nature.  In fact, many even think that only negative pleasure can be considered pleasurable.

For example, once the male head of a family has become prosperous enough, he will often be tempted to visit brothels or harbor a mistress.  And quite frequently he may try to obtain money dishonestly in order to do so.  Such actions are, of course, negative in nature.  And that person will often take great risks to gratify his desires, resulting in considerable loss and harm to society and his country.  The ensuing family troubles will lead to a life full of unrest and misgivings.

It seems like the primary goals in life have become worldly success and the pursuit of pleasure.  As a result, before people are aware of it their lives can reach a hell-like condition.  Within a society this occurs in particular among those who are better educated or more privileged.

The outward appearance of seemingly successful individuals can be captivating.  Others become envious and imagine how happy and contented they must be, and then try to follow their example, thinking they hold the key to an ideal life.  No wonder the world has failed to improve!

The Japanese saying, “Honest people get the worst of it,” suitably describes the present situation.  Living an honest life restricts most people to the lower economic classes, while cunning individuals usually do very well, enjoying many luxuries.  The number of government officials who derive extra benefits from their positions, politicians who take bribes, and company employees who dishonestly make extra money, is staggering.  How many people are there who can say they are doing right in the sight of God and their fellow human beings?  Yet, there is a joy to be found in doing good deeds and living honestly.

People should refrain from activities of a negative nature regardless of how well-off they might become, or how prominent a figure they may be in society.  Instead, each should do one’s best to donate spare money to public institutions and other philanthropic activities, extend a helping hand to the poor and needy in every way possible, sincerely follow a spiritual path, and enjoy entertainment or travel with family members.

It is inevitable that this way of living will make a person’s home life a happy one.  A man’s wife will show respect and feel grateful to him for what he does, and his children will less likely pursue negative activities.  Freed from economic worry, it will be possible for him to enjoy every day to the fullest, with happiness in his heart and no concern in his mind.

A well-known multimillionaire who lived at the turn of the twentieth century once said, “If you would like to live long, you should not incur a debt.”  In other words, being saddled with debts that are difficult to pay off is the greatest mental torture a person can have.  I think I understand what he meant, for, I also experienced suffering from being in debt for a period of twenty years.

Many people today commit acts that if they were revealed would be construed as bribery or some other illegality.  There are also those who like to engage in clandestine activities that, if discovered by their loved ones, would cause serious family discord.  Thus, they are at times forced to borrow money at unreasonable interest rates.  These two actions work together to keep many people in constant fear and worry.  The uneasiness they live with from day to day often leads to the use of alcohol to drown the pain.  This may be one of the reasons liquor sells so well no matter how high the price becomes.

The health of such people diminishes and many of them die prematurely.  Like quicksand, once they have been trapped it is difficult for them to get out.

There is only one way for a person to overcome such difficulties – that is to turn to God, to take a spiritual path.

There are two ways for people to live: the positive and the negative, righteous virtue and self-indulgent vice.  Which way of life would you prefer?  Be careful in the choice you make.

Well, Meishu-sama warns us about what not to do.  He does mention three things to do which resonated with me.  . . sincerely follow a spiritual path, and enjoy entertainment or travel with family members.  I plan on doing all three.  I am on a spiritual path.  I plan on traveling to Brazil to the Sacred Grounds.  And finally, I plan to play as much golf as I can. ^_^

There are many types

Of cancer.  But a nickname

For it, would be the

Meat eaters’ disease.  Of course,

It is not the only cause.

When you listen to the introduction to Meishu-sama’s chapter on Cancer in his book, “Saving America” you may come up with a different way of looking at this condition.  I will post a recording of it here.  After you listen to it . . . I will share what I personally got from it.

First of all, I love meat.  I was raised with beef as the cornerstone of my family’s diet.  I stopped eating beef for two weeks over 40 years ago while I was visiting my relatives in Japan.  When I returned to the airbase in Tokyo, I actually could not stand the smell of beef being cooked.  I thought that was very strange.  The indifference did not last long.  After a while, I got used to it and once again it was a staple of my diet.  ^_^

The reason I mentioned this is because, if I had read this book back then . . . I would have at least become a Pescatarian.  Any way . . . presently . . . I am a pescatarian.  Not necessarily because of my reading this book.  (It did help me decide) I need multiple reasons for doing things.  Well, my wife’s health was the other reason.  Since I cook most of the meals . . . I have been pretty much a vegetarian the past month.  I ordered a vegetable dish this past Sunday from a Chinese Restaurant with shrimp when I was dining alone. (That felt strange by the way) And once in a while, I enjoy eating an egg and natto on hot rice.  My long-range plans, of course, is to include fish in our diet and officially join the ranks of the pescatarians.  2023 update: Yes I am a pescatarian but I have once again put back into my diet all foods that resonate with me. But I continue to be primarily a grain (rice), fish, fruits and vegetable lover. And on very special occasions I enjoy beef, pork and chicken.

Once again Meishu-sama writes about a cure for this condition without the use of Johrei.   I will also include the anecdotal support for a case cured with the assistance of Johrei for those of you who are interested in this method of treatment.

December 2023 update: A thought came to me that resonates with my soul. I have moved Johrei as a critical step in all healing. Meishu-sama did mention in many of his Teachings the belief that Johrei goes way beyond the healing of the physical body . . .

ILLNESS (67)
The teachings that guide people to true health
Are paths of salvation ordained by God.
Do not fear illness or hardships.
Accept them as God’s blessings –
A way of purifying us
Of our accumulated spiritual clouds.
Even though illness is healed through prayers,
We still hold medical science
In high esteem. (Nidai-sama)

The primary purpose of Johrei is not to effect physical
healing. Johrei is an action that brings about spiritual
fulfillment and true happiness on Earth. I say this because,
sickness is a form of purification and the real cause of
sickness is clouds on the spiritual body, which are dispelled
through that purification. Johrei is a way by which all the
negative experiences of a person can be eliminated.

In this sense, poverty and conflict are also
manifestations of purification. However, the most serious of
all purifications is illness, because it involves one’s very life.
Therefore, when the problem of disease is solved, other
miseries such as poverty and conflict are automatically
solved, too.

Since the solution of these miseries is essential for the
attainment of true happiness, it needs to be clearly
understood that the cause of all miseries is clouds on the
spiritual body, and that the simplest and surest way to dispel
clouds and attain true happiness is Johrei. Therefore, Johrei
is not merely something to be used for the healing of
physical illness.

Based on this particular poem from Meishu-sama and Nidai-sama I have a developed a way of looking at Johrei. It is a very important part of the solution to all situations. The misery could be an illness. It could be conflict. Or it could also be a financial crisis. But since illness is the topic at hand . . .

Let’s consider what Nidai-sama mentioned in the above poem. Even though illness is healed through prayers,

                             We still hold medical science

                             In high esteem.

This partnership is critical. Before Johrei, there existed a partnership between prayer, surgery, chemo therapy, radiation therapy and good nutrition/exercise. We even included such things as image therapy, meditation, accupuncture and accupressure. The list goes on and on. The point I am trying to make is the realization that other approaches should be used especially in the case of life threatening illness. And in my humble opinion . . . no matter what approach you choose the invisible power of prayer and/or Johrei should be highly recommended.

THE PRACTICE OF HUMILITY (52)

Belief in God

Will make anyone modest.

No matter how good

You are, nothing compares to

The Power of our Father.

Just thinking and comparing ourselves with the Almighty God will bring instant humility.  I plan on using this as a tool to improve my golf.  I just realize why, after most of us roll a birdie putt into the hole, we seem to follow it with a bogie or worse still, a double bogie.  We seem to feel an inflated view of our meager abilities.  Then God instantly brings us back.  What if instead . . . we have a short celebration for our eagle or birdie putt . . .  then reflect on how God would have played the hole.  This will instantly bring us back to Earth and we don’t have to experience a disaster hole, later in the round, to bring us down.  For reference, the teaching is as written by Meishu-sama:

Since antiquity the practice of humility has been stressed in Japan, and it is more important in every aspect of one’s life than people generally realize.  It is of particular importance to anyone who believes in God.

I notice at times that the virtue of humility seems to be lacking in the leaders of certain spiritual groups when they promote their teachings.  There are two ancient Japanese proverbs that refer to this virtue: “A falcon that catches the most hides its talons,” and, “the riper the rice grows the lower the stalks bow.”

Arrogance, conceit, pretense of knowledge, and vanity all reflect back adversely on a person exhibiting such flaws, with the result being the opposite of that desired.  It is a common human weakness to want to feel important once a person begins to attract the attention of others.  When people working in ordinary jobs, leading rather ordinary lives or living on a low income, suddenly become successful or achieve some level of importance, they may feel quite flattered.  While simply happy and grateful at first, in time most of them begin to dream of having even more.

Up to this point things may have been going well; but problems can begin to arise, since their conceit will surely cause bad feelings.  Unfortunately, such people don’t usually realize what is happening until it is too late.

God greatly dislikes vanity or arrogance.  The virtues of modesty and humility are priceless, especially among our modern, civilized societies.  We often see people pushing through crowded, public places, or rushing for and haughtily taking the best seats on a bus or train.  These are self-centered behaviors that should be earnestly avoided.

The real spirit of democracy, true for all ages, is helping to establish a peaceful and comfortable society for everyone.

I will test out this tool this evening.  I will report back with my findings.

Well . . .  I am back.  Humility is a powerful tool.  Conceit and arrogance moves us from our balanced position.  Winning the lottery.  Receiving an unexpected raise.  Rolling in a birdie putt.  ^_^  Gratitude may help a little but not being balanced . . . wanting more (another birdie putt) like Meishu-sama wrote . . .While simply happy and grateful at first, in time most of them begin to dream of having even more. . . . Once this occurs our focus on the process is broken and we seldom experience good results.  So my little experiment worked.  Instant humility moves in when we realize the awesome power of God.  He would eagle or double eagle every hole on the course.  I am looking forward to using this on the golf course.

9/05/23 – I would like to update this post. Something just occurred to me . . . when we play golf . . . most golfers bend forward from the waist to achieve an athletic position to better swing the club. When I pray I do something similar to this. It helps me connect with everything around me. Slightly bowing one’s head also feels less arrogant and something a modest person would do.

REVERSE EFFECT (53)

Reverse effect is

The Universal law that

Keeps us humble and

We realize that reverse

Is the smart way of living.

Throughout the world we find that people often have not attained the good results they expected, even though they have worked in earnest and fully believed that what they have been attempting to accomplish was right.

In many cases this occurs simply because they are ignorant of a reverse effect, which causes things that aren’t logical to happen.  This is worth explaining because I believe anyone who reads this article and grasps its meaning will receive an unanticipated benefit from it.

People at times try to make themselves seem greater than they really are in order to impress others.  I have found this to occur in some of our members who have been given leading positions.  Because of their pretense, these people frequently create the exact opposite impression, since others can easily see through it.

Conversely, those who are humble and reserved in their words and deeds, who are happy and content with simply being themselves, gain the respect and admiration of others.

Also, some people like to brag about what they do.  But because they offend those who hear them, the created effect is the reverse of that which they desired.  It is not good to be a showoff.

Being honest and pleasant always makes a good impression on others.  Also, expressing a reserved opinion gives an indication of fine character.

When someone does favors for others, a patronizing attitude should never be assumed, for, doing so makes the recipients feel less grateful, diminishing the value of the good deeds.

Some time ago, the last person I would care to see asked for an interview through a friend of mine.  I finally conceded to his repeated requests.  He first asked me, “What kind of deity do you worship in your religion?”  I said,
“Sorry, but I do not have an answer to that question.”  His next remark was, “Meishu-sama, I understand you know everything that is going to happen in the future.”  I said to him, “Since I am not God I cannot know anything about the future.”  He seemed to be very disappointed, because he never came again to see me.

Another time, I found a piece of land that was for sale, one that I really wanted to purchase, and I asked how much it was.  The owner, trying to take advantage of my strong desire to own it, set an unreasonably high price.  So I let it go for a while, keeping the seller in suspense.  Eventually he became anxious and came to ask my intentions.  I said I did not need the land any more.  He then named a very reasonable price, and the deal was completed.

Occasionally, I had visitors who intended to defraud me of some money.  When one appeared, I would take the initiative and remark before he could say anything, “I need money; I am in a strained condition just now.  Do you know of anyone who can lend me some money?”  Upon hearing this, the visitor could not say what he had planned and would leave without bringing up the subject.

When I find among my followers someone who shows great promise for our work in the future, I sometimes take an indifferent approach on purpose.  If that individual begins to serve still more earnestly and do still better work, he or she is indeed trustworthy and will be a valuable instrument for God’s Cause.  A more important position can then be given.

These are just a few examples of reverse effects, but the truth they contain applies in any situation.  I am sure that if you keep this in mind in whatever you do, you will find it very beneficial.

As Meishu-sama writes . . . this particular teaching can be beneficial in many aspects of our lives.  I am going to list a few that come to mind as it applies to my golf game.

  1.  Relax from the inside out in order to have a consistent and powerful swing..
  2. Light grip gives greater control
  3. Less control gives a player more control
  4. The game is very difficult . . . be humble
  5. As mentioned in another blog.  Be honest
  6. Be yourself on the course . . . it is a good reflection of who you are today
  7. Efficient and deliberate preshot routine actually speeds up play. (less strokes played, less time looking for wayward shots)
  8. You take the reverse effect out of play when you follow the Izunome Principle.  (to be explained later)

Note: Today is July 19, 2023. While driving on the 405 headed for the Center a realization hit me. Many years ago my instructor at pilot training shared an interesting technique for flying better. He said I should try a lighter grip on the control stick. Of course, it worked. I flew a better, smoother aircraft and I applied it to other things. My basic demeaner became more relaxed and even the grip I used for my golf swing became more relaxed. What I did not realize is this advice of a lighter grip would be a problem many years down the road. I believe the advice given by my instructor was incomplete. He should have emphasized the relaxation from within. When that occurs the entire body feels the relaxation as well as my fingers, hands and arms. This true form of relaxation would hopefully prevent what has happened to me and a lot of other people. This is a long story, so stay with me . . .

Yesterday, my step daughter gave me a deep tissue massage. It was a first for me and many times during the 1 hour “procedure” (better known as torture), I really wanted her to stop. I know I need to go thru it again. So I scheduled another appointment. Well, I have a dull pain throughout my body but I feel better and move better than I have in years. Now, we are back on the 405 and instead of just relaxing the tension in my hands on the steering wheel. I take a deep breath and I attempt to relax my entire body . . . all the way to the tips of my fingers. The feeling was incredible. (I may write an essay on this subject)

Here comes another amazing result to all of this. I mentioned I am moving much better. My walk is smoother, I think, and I am able to climb stairs like I did when I was younger. The weakness and sometimes dull pain in my knees are all gone. All I had to do is release the tension throughout my body. (easier said than done) I had a professional massage therapist force the tension out of my body . . . now my entire body is working like it should. Perhaps we should try total body physical therapy before replacing parts. ^_^ Now the million dollar question is this . . . how can I have a baby like face that shows exactly what is going on in my body. Once I learn to relax I want to stay that way. With a mindful connection between my baby face and tension in my body . . . I believe Qigong, meditation and assorted relaxation tools will now work because I am starting with a relaxed body.

Life Lessons Practiced while Playing Golf

I have always wanted to write an essay on this subject.  I am hoping that this analysis will be of use to the reader but most of all I pray that this will help me understand the teachings of Meishu-sama and also apply it to my daily life, which, may or may not include golf.  ^_^

Volume 1 is a good introduction to the teachings and philosophy of Meishu-sama.

Volume 2 includes deeper insights into his thoughts and principles.

Volume 3 focuses on the practical teachings that we can apply into our daily lives to become worthy citizens of Paradise on Earth.

Volume 4 is more theoretical, covering beauty, happiness, religion, and the spiritual world.

Volume 5 covers philosophies on the ways to improve one’s well being and eliminate suffering. . . such topics as health, nature farming, Johrei and purification.

Based on the above descriptions of the five volumes, I have chosen Volume 3 as the reference for this essay.  I have been playing this game, off and on, for 43 years.  I believe I can come up with a few stories which could have worked out differently if I had applied Meishu-sama’s teachings.

Universal love

Is a challenge for me and

Everyone else too.

The game of golf has taught me

To love every shot truly.

Let’s take the first teaching in that volume.  (Makoto . . . Love and Integrity)  This is a good place to start.  I believe I love the game.  In truth it is definitely a love hate relationship.  This is where I learned the concept of universal love (unconditional love- daijo love)  I did not realize till now that it is at the core of my love for the game.  I have no reason to love the game.  I am not a very good player and apparently I have little natural skill.  And yet, I still find ways to appreciate its many lessons. If you just look at the outside of this relationship you would say that it was destined for failure.  But what better way to demonstrate this love by being rejected in most situations but allowing me a brief instance of grace by giving me at least one perfect shot.  Not one that is a perfect result.  But one that feels like the perfect shot.  Where the golf ball actually goes, God only knows.  ^_^ But the feeling of the shot resonates with my soul.  That is what the game gives me.  In all things in life, marriage, raising children, working a profession, all relationships, etc.  if we had this resonation with our soul we would have a fulfilling life.  (8/21/22-God gave me a round of soul vibrating shots. Maybe it is time to officially come out of retirement. A 76 on a par 60 course with 6 lost golf balls is a miracle. Bruce, my long time golfing buddy was my witness. He actually complimented me on my short game. The best chipper of the ball, that I know, was calling me, the best chipper of the ball that he knew. That was the greatest compliment any one has ever given me. ^_^) Btw, this happened yesterday. Sorry for the commercial break. Back to the original blog. ^_^

By the way, you are probably wondering about why Meishu-sama included Integrity into the meaning of the word “Makoto”.  Well, I believe that honesty with others and with yourself is the core of good relationships. (Being authenticate . . . I believe gives us the best chance of doing the mission God gave us before we came back to live this life.)  And since golf is a self-regulated sport . . . you can practice the concept of honesty in every round.  I have tried to deviate from the rules of golf to benefit my score but inevitably I have stopped doing it because it bothered me so much that my score actually got worse.  I think people can relate to this.  In the daylight age, the truth is always the best path.  Telling a lie in the Age of Darkness may have met with temporary success.  But now . . . the truth is the best practice.

The following is the teaching as written in Volume 3:

MAKOTO (50)

The key to the solution of all problems, whether they concern an individual, a nation or the world, is makoto – love.

The lack of administrative ability stems from a lack of love.  The shortage of material blessings is caused by a shortage of love.  The absence of morality is due to an absence of love.  The deterioration of social order is the result of the deterioration of love.  Indeed, the basic cause of all distressing problems is an insufficiency of love.

Religion, education and the arts are only skeletal forms without love at their core.

Ah, makoto, makoto!  I say to all humanity that the only key to solving all problems is love and love alone.

The next teaching is entitled, “Gratitude” – It Will Be Done According to Your Thought (Ningen wa Sonen Shidai).  I am going to write this teaching in its entirety.  It is short and it is very important in life as well as in golf.

GRATITUDE (51)

“Gratitude gives birth to gratitude and ingratitude creates more ingratitude.  This is because gratitude reaches God, while ingratitude reaches dark forces.

Therein lies the reason why those who are always grateful naturally enjoy happiness and good fortune, while those who are ungrateful and constantly complain are unhappy and become more and more unfortunate.

As one prominent spiritual leader in Japan wrote, “if you rejoice, joyous things will come to you.”

In my forty or so years of playing the game of golf I have had more terrible shots than amazing shots.  It is easy to feel grateful for the amazing shots.  But my challenge has been to truly feel gratitude for the bad shots.  With help from my friend, Bruce, I now embrace my bad shots as opportunities to then execute an amazing recovery shot.  I will share an example.  I was playing a friendly game of golf with my Uncle in Seattle.  Of course, we were playing in a nice drizzle.  Most of my golf is played in perfect weather so I knew this day would be a challenge.  During the round I topped my second shot on a par four.  The ball went straight down into the mud and rolled 8 feet forward.  That was one of the worse shots ever.  Following that shot came the most amazing 8 iron.  From 140 yards out, the ball flew into the hole for a birdie 3.  From that day forward I have always verbally thanked God for good and bad shots.  My fortune on golf courses has been improving ever since.  My scores go up and down but my overall experience on the course has always beckoned my soul to return.  Why??  I now believe that God sent me down to the Earth to help humanity achieve Paradise on Earth.  Exactly how I will do this . . . thru golf  . . .  is still a mystery to me.  ^_^   update (2/7/24) I am realizing that the feeling of gratitude after a good or bad shot is a feeling. Living our lives with the feeling of gratitude is not an intellectual endeavor. The feeling is quite common now. Perhaps this all began on the golf course as an intellectual daily practice but now . . . the feeling which I feel is almost a continuous feeling. Wow! Life is good.

The next teaching in Volume 3 is: The Practice of Humility. I have decided to include all of the teachings in its entirety in this blog because the power of the teachings should not be summarized or abbreviated.

THE PRACTICE OF HUMILITY (52)

This teaching is self evident but I could not relate it to myself. I believe you should be very good in something before you could fall into the trap of being arrogant. And since I was seldom in a situation to brag . . . I never did. And looking back on my life. If I ever deserved accolades I down played it. I chalked it up to good fortune. (being a lucky menehune) or being associated with a great team. I do believe Bruce struggled with this one. He is an amazing athlete and an amazing person. The list of accolades I would have describing him would go on and on. So humility was a challenge for him. He admitted to me many times on the golf course that he was working on it. I said I would help him on the golf course. I would quickly acknowledge his great golf shots before he congratulated himself. ^_^

As you can see by this teaching we can clearly see the benefits of being modest and practicing humility. Enough said.

Tuberculosis

Is a condition caused by

Man.  If we reflect on this . . .

Our response to this infliction

Will be much more effective.

I pray a doctor who understands what is going on with Tuberculosis will read this and . . . perhaps feel the need to e-mail a colleague who works in a research lab somewhere in the world to verify Meishu-sama’s conclusions on the origins of this disease.  If we understand it, perhaps we will come up with a more effective treatment.  A treatment which will not make matters worse.

I will post the writings of Meishu-sama about Tuberculosis and allow, you, the reader to come up with your own conclusions.

I just googled Tuberculosis and it looks like we, the nations of the world, are not doing very well against it. Many scientist are now postulating that the high mortality rate of COVID 19 may have been caused, in part, by the preexisting condition in many victims of Tuberculosis. Based on the writings of Meishu-sama, we will have a better understanding of viruses and bacteria and perhaps find a way to help the human body in cleaning out the lungs so the bacteria has nothing to feed on. And if we do this, we may not lose so many people to the flu or the next pandemic.

5/10/24 update: a truly remarkable event occurred on April 20th, 2024. On that day Alison and I knew we were coming down with some version of the flu but we were also strong enough to exchange Johrei. We then proceeded to exchange Johrei for approximately the next 8 hrs with very few breaks. The result was a miracle worth writing about. My prayer prior to receiving the Light goes something like this. God and Meishu-sama, thank you for Your Light, energy and wisdom. In the past I have used a special phrase which has served me well. When symptoms of a cold or flu are detected I would say to myself, “I don’t have time for this”. Almost always the symptoms would disappear or the cold or flu would come and go within 24 hours. With the amount of Johrei that i received on that fateful Saturday, it became clear to me that what I was doing was a little better than taking medication. In both cases we shutdown the symptoms and we never clear out the garbage that the virus or bacteria is attempting to do. Now . . . three weeks later . . . with a lot of coughing . . . I feel so much better. I have a higher energy level. I feel lighter and I am beginning to discern flavors that I was not aware of. Coffee for instance. Black coffee to me tastes like coffee. And most coffee brands that I have tried tastes like coffee. I would have a difficult time discerning one brand from another. When my taste buds returned at the end of this bout with the flu, all of a sudden I picked up flavors in my coffee that I did not know existed. Wow! The bonus occurred today. For the past ten years I have been falling in love with the art of Ikebana. Flowers are now an important part of my life. But at the same time I have been disappointed on many situations where I admired a beautiful flower but did not smell the accompanying fragrance. I started to believe that the modern way of growing flowers was not nature farming and the flowers were beautiful but they had little of no fragrance. Well, today was a welcome surprise. Alison purchase flowers for our home and while placing the flowers in a vase, I stopped to smell the fragrance. Wow, it was incredible. Thank you God and Meishu-sama, for the purification of my senses. I am hoping for other good news and I will report to you, my readers, when ever they do occur.

Heart Disease

There are many types

Of heart disease.  Congestive

Heart Failure is the one

That my Mom experienced.

This essay may help others.

Meishu-sama wrote the book entitled, “Saving America” with the intention of saving America.  I wish we had a copy that I could have read before my Mom transitioned.  Perhaps the time was not right. I believe the time is right now. Going back to my Mom . . . she had several heart conditions but the one that was giving her the most trouble was Congestive Heart Failure. His introduction to the chapter on Heart Disease will be attached in its entirety.  At times she experienced pain beyond description and she also had trouble breathing.  Well, the purpose of the essay is to alert the people of the world that this particular heart condition can be solved.  In fact, that is one of the reasons I enjoyed reading his book.  When he covered each condition he also shared faith experiences which included Johrei (prayer in action) being tried after doctors gave up hope for a particular case.   But if you removed all the amazing miracles brought on by Johrei I would still be interested in the book.  In the introduction he shared ways of preventing the condition with a little knowledge and small changes in diet/lifestyle.

This is what he wrote in the introduction for his chapter on Heart Disease:

Based on what he said, I know what I have to do.  Continue at all cost to avoid the ingestion of medication.  In most cases the medication is prescribed to lesson a symptom.  Not to cure the condition.  In this case the medicinal toxins is the cause of the condition so eventually the patient will expel all the toxins and will eventually be cured.

Since my Mom’s Mom also died from a heart complication I am going to assume that I may have similar concerns.  That being said . . . no medicines for me and a pescatarian diet sounds like a good long range plan.

Another heart related disease which my Mom experienced and many other people around the world are also experiencing is arteriosclerosis (the thickening and hardening of the arteries)  Meishu-sama also addressed this condition in his book, Saving America.

My Mom also got

Arteriosclerosis.

Multiple stents were

Inserted to help blood flow.

A little knowledge helps now.

Once again Meishu-sama writes about a cure for this condition without the use of Johrei.  I will also include the anecdotal support for a case cured with the assistance of Johrei for those of you who are interested in that method of treatment.

An awareness that something is not good for our health is a good thing. A good example of this is cigarettes. Many people are not smoking now because of this awareness. Also, an awareness that something is actually good for us is also a good thing. The list of things in this category is now very long . . . certain foods, meditation, proper breathing, hypno therapy, laughter, certain sounds . . . etc. Well, go ahead and add prayer and Johrei. I believe all these ideas are good. And in my humble opinion, prayer and Johrei are on the top of the list. ^_^

At the end of life,

Johrei is very loving.

Suffering is less.

Pain is mitigated and

Less time for transitioning.

Ten situations where my prayers were answered, and the physical being smoothly transitioned into the spiritual realm.   My prayer was . . . “May God’s will be done.”  The people I was channeling Johrei to were in critical condition and they were close to transitioning.  The instance I am sharing with you now, I believe, represents the best example.  Btw, as a new member, many years ago, I was concerned after 3 people passed right after receiving Johrei.  I brought this up with my minister and he said, “everything is ok.  We are helping the person transition by clearing clouds on their spirit which would require more suffering prior to the transition.”  Let me share this story to help explain this concept.

This faith experience occurred several years ago, and I was a member of my church, channeling Johrei for eight years.  I found out a colleague of mine experienced a medical condition which put him in the hospital, and he was intubated and on life support.  The second day I was visiting and channeling Johrei to him I was witness to a very painful discussion between the patients doctor and the patient’s wife.  The doctor felt that the patient would not survive without artificial support.  So, he told the wife that she should say her good byes before this coming Saturday.  They were planning to remove the tube for cleaning so if he stopped breathing, they were not planning on resuscitating the patient.  Well, I continued to channel the Light.  The wife then escorted a friend out and I found myself alone with the patient.  I then did something I was never able to do in the past.  During the next 15 minute session I prayed out loud  the Prayer of Heaven, three times, ( which takes about 5 minutes).  Since no one was disturbing us, not even a nurse, I did it again.  On the third Johrei session . . . something happened that I have never seen before.  A very light mist rose above the patient.  Hovered for a second and then disappeared.  I have seen many strange things in my life that I could not positively identify.  But this one I was hoping was the last spiritual presence of the patient leaving the body.   I finished that Johrei session and I decided to call it a day.  I texted the patients wife that I was leaving and thanked her for allowing me to channel the Light to her husband.  I was walking down the stairwell exiting the hospital when I heard a code blue being announced on the loud speakers.  I did not think much about it because hospitals have many such announcements.

The next day when I went to work.  My teaching partner, who was close friends with the patient and his wife, told me what happened.  Even with all the life support equipment operating, he had passed.  That cold blue was probably for the patient I was channeling the Light to.  Looking back on it . . . I am glad he did not stop breathing while I was channeling.  I think that would have scared me. ^_^

Witnessing a white mist rising from the patient is not the important part.  45 minutes of Johrei was what was necessary to allow the spirit to leave the body.  No more suffering was necessary.  God’s will be done.
